How to go :

• By car: From Chiang Mai city center, drive along Huay Keao Road up the mountain to reach the temple
• By minibus: Take minibus (Song Thaew) services available at the foot of the mountain

 

What / Why :

This temple is 15 kilometers from town and is 3,520 feet above sea level. Built in 1383, this mountaintop temple has a Chedi that houses holy Buddha relics. Locals would say, You haven’t really gone to Chiang Mai unless you’ve been to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Truly, the place is the most important and famous Chiang Mai landmark.
