• Wat Ratburana, with Chedi, Prang, and Wihan evolved from the Khmer style
• Wat Chai Watthanaram, featuring the Prang, and accessible by a long-tailed boat
• Wat Phra Mahathat, one of Ayutthaya’s oldest temples
• Wat Phanan Choeng, enshrining a 57-feet-tall seated Buddha image
• Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, housing image of a reclining Buddha in brick and stucco

• Take a bicycle or tricycle tour, a mini-train ride, or an elephant ride around the Park
• Take a tour of the outlying ruins along the river by a chartered long-tailed boat

 

How to go :

By car: Use Phahonyothin Rd (No.1), travel northward, passing Nam Phra-In Gate, then take Highway No. 32, and turn left to Highway No. 309 to Ayutthaya

 

What / Why :

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ayutthaya’s historic temples are scattered throughout this once magnificent city and along the encircling rivers. Several of the central ruins are, for example, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wat Mongkhon Bophit, Wat Na Phra Meru, Wat Phutthai Sawan, Wat Ratburana, Wat Chai Watthanaram, Wat Phra Mahathat, Wat Phanan Choeng, and Wat Yai Chaimongkhon.
