AUN & Hide - TAIKO FUSION MUSIC FROM JAPAN in Hua Hin
(Sunday February 5,2012 at 2.00 p.m.)

One of the most outstanding bands performing in the Japanese traditional music scene, AUN has taken traditional Japanese music across boundaries and to levels no other group has reached.
Based on more than one thousand years of traditional Japanese music, AUN has taken the beautiful and unique sounds of traditional Japanese instruments and created a very original fusion of today's music mixed with ancient traditions.
AUN was created by twin brothers Ryohei and Kohei Inoue, who were born in 1969. This versatile band features the virtuoso talents of each brother as they play their fascinating compositions on taikos (big drum), samisen and fue (Japanese flute). AUN has appeared four times at CARNEGIE HALL, New York and Ryohei and Kohei received EMMY AWARDS as leading members of ONDEKOZA, a legendary Japanese taiko drum troupe with over 30 years experience of touring the world. Ryohei and Kohei joined when they were 18 and performed more than 1000 shows in 16 countries during their 12 years with the group. In 2000, they launched their own career by setting up AUN to explore their highly individual style of music.
AUN has released two critically-acclaimed albums: "Dash" and "East", featuring bassist and producer TM Stevens and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. In 2006, AUN produced a "Visit Japan" campaign song for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to send the ministry's PR messages overseas, supported by the sound of Japanese traditional instruments.
In 2008, the band unveiled a new concept called the AUN J-Classic Orchestra, which performs music using only Japanese traditional instruments such as the koto, shakuhachi, taiko, shamisen and fue. So far, the orchestra has released three albums: "Wagakki de Ghibli," "Sakura," and "Michi-Road."
AUN's shows are not only amazing for the virtuoso talents of Ryohei and Kohei, they are also exciting and entertaining for all age groups as they encompass today's rock, rock'n'roll, ambient, and bass & drum styles which are very popular with younger music fans.
AUN is also committed to helping preserve the environment. Both brothers take an active role in an ecological project to regenerate the forest and mountains in Japan and a portion of the revenues from their CD sales is donated to the project.
HIDE (Hideyuki Saito) joined the Taiko group "Kodo" in 1987. During his stay in Kodo with the band, he performed in over 150 cities around the world, and collaborated with various musicians and artists e.g. Sir Paul McCartney, Donal Lunny Band, Terumasa Hino, Seitaro Kuroda, Tamasaburo Bando, Kiyohiko Senba, and Hitoshi Komuro. Hide has also performed on the soundtracks of many Hollywood movies such as "HERO", and attended the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo in 2001. More than 10,000 people enjoyed a fabulous performance during Kodo's two-day concert at The Acropolis in Athens. Hide also joined on the theme song for the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Japan/South Korea.
In 2004, Hide decided to leave Kodo after 17 years to start his solo career as "Narimono-shi (percussionist) HIDE".
